Mining - safety and automation systems for mines

This is where we started. 800 metres underground, where methane waits for a spark, and every failure can cost lives. Since 1989, we have been building systems that protect people and machines where there is no room for error.

// Characteristics

A mine is the toughest testing ground known to industry. Dust, water, explosion hazards, tens of kilometres of underground workings, and people scattered in the dark. Standard hardware will not survive here. That is why every device we make is intrinsically safe, flameproof, and designed to operate in Ex zones.

With knowledge, we see the whole mine. With experience - we know where to look. The AT‑Visio SCADA system combines atmospheric monitoring, communication, location, and control into a single picture. You know where every person, every machine, and every litre of chilled water is — in real time.

When the gas concentration rises, the atmospheric monitoring reacts before a human can sense it. When a machine enters a human work zone, the anti‑collision system stops the hazard. When the crew needs to be evacuated - voice communication and personnel identification tell you who is left underground.

These are not stand‑alone products. This is a complete arrangement - from intrinsically safe fibre optics, through CUKS controllers, LED lighting and mine cooling, to digital telephony and CCTV. All ours. All designed, manufactured, and commissioned by one team.

The threat passes. Life goes on.

// Applications

System purpose

A mine needs not individual devices, but one coherent arrangement. Here are the areas where our systems operate underground every day.

01

Haulage and process automation

  • SSP system - automation of belt and armoured face conveyors,
  • automation of pumping stations and mine dewatering,
  • control of ventilation stoppings and floor‑mounted railways,
  • monitoring of technological utilities and chilled water.
02

Mine air conditioning and cooling

  • high‑capacity cooling systems for underground workings and tunnels,
  • UKAS air conditioning units - the heart of the cooling system,
  • direct and indirect systems (PAS evaporators, CHWAS, SHPAS coolers),
  • combatting waste heat increasing with depth and mechanisation,
  • operation in areas of particular hazard, in accordance with mining standards.
03

Mine gas monitoring and atmospheric monitoring

  • measurement of methane, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulphide and oxygen concentrations, as well as moisture,
  • sensors react before the hazard becomes apparent to a human,
  • automatic safety procedures when thresholds are exceeded,
  • integration with the visualisation system and data transmission.
04

Voice communication and safety

  • SSG system - voice communication and safety of longwall systems,
  • ITC intrinsically safe digital telephony for operation in hazardous areas,
  • CUKS loudspeaking devices for the entire mine,
  • WZA emergency stop switches with pull‑wire tension control,
  • mobile VoIP communication.
05

Process visualisation (SCADA)

The whole mine on a screen - monitor, projector, tablet, smartphone

  • AT‑Visio platform - process monitoring, visualisation, and analytics,
  • a single picture combining all systems,
  • AT‑Serwis - remote system diagnostics,
  • real‑time operational decision support.
06

Personnel location and tracking of machines

  • AT‑LOCATION system - identification and recording of personnel underground,
  • AT‑RFiD - location of transport means and materials recording,
  • anti‑collision system - collision prevention in machine work zones,
  • real‑time information on who and what is underground.
07

CCTV monitoring

  • AT‑VIDEO system - intrinsically safe CCTV underground,
  • flameproof and intrinsically safe digital cameras,
  • AT‑PZW surface visualisation unit,
  • real‑time preview of key mine zones,
  • underground visualisation stations with an intrinsically safe keyboard.
08

Power supply in hazardous areas

  • ZIM intrinsically safe switched‑mode power supplies for underground equipment,
  • signal isolators and intrinsically safe barriers,
  • reliable infrastructure power supply in Ex zones,
  • circuit protection against exceeding intrinsic safety parameters.
09

Fibre‑optic network and transmission

  • ATUT‑MFE intrinsically safe fibre‑optic backbone network,
  • intrinsically safe modems, hubs, and media converters,
  • flameproof fibre‑optic feedthroughs and patch panels,

  • flow sensors,
  • position sensors,
  • moisture sensors,
  • limit switches.
12

Displays and visual‑acoustic signalling devices

They are used as information or warning signs on movement routes, in machine control and monitoring circuits.

  • Single or multi‑row LED displays,
  • scrolling LED text panels,
  • visual signalling devices - alarm
