KM-2 - Media converter

A media converter translating the 10/100Base‑TX wired network signal to 100Base‑FX fibre‑optic. It connects underground and surface installation sections over a distance of up to 60 km, in spaces without explosion hazard or inside a flameproof (Ex d) enclosure.

// DESCRIPTION

What it is

KM‑2 translates the signal between the 10/100Base‑TX wired network and the 100Base‑FX fibre‑optic network. It has one Ethernet port with an RJ‑45 connector for twisted pair connection and a second fibre‑optic port with an SC connector. It transmits over two fibres or a single fibre using WDM technology, on a single wavelength in each direction.

It operates exclusively in single‑mode networks, with a speed of 10/100 Mbps on the Ethernet side and 100 Mbps on the fibre‑optic side, over distances up to 60 km. LED diodes show settings and operating parameters in real time.

It operates in surface visualisation units, control cabinets, and transmission racks. It performs equally well in underground monitoring units, underground control units, and telecommunication lines, both underground and on the surface.

The device operates in spaces without methane or coal dust explosion hazard. In explosion‑hazard areas, it must be located inside a flameproof (Ex d) enclosure. Device category I M1, explosion‑protected [Ex op is Ma] I design, ATEX certificate KDB 14 ATEX 0026X.
